Every Bond Movie Theme Song Ranked Worst To Best

5. Goldfinger By Shirley Bassey

It feels extremely harsh placing this classic song so far down the list, as the song is so damn close to perfection. Bassey is simply phenomenal in her delivery of every dynamic line, seducing the audiences with her tale of the great Bond villain. The range that Bassey displays is nothing short of remarkable, from deep overtures luring the audience before effortlessly transforming to stunning falsettos.

The song holds its place as the first ever Bond theme to play throughout the opening credits and the amazing blockbuster success that the song was, cemented the title song as a staple of the franchise. Bassey's efforts were so loved that she was to return on two further occasions to sing the title song.

The lyrics are fascinating in regards to Bond themes as it is the only song that addresses the villain throughout. The song's ability to create a vivid picture of the type of person Goldfinger was helped establish a villainous grandeur before the antagonist had even appeared on screen. Whilst Gert Frobe's performance as the villainous titular character was definitely of the highest order and worthy of the praise that followed, it is this classic song that kickstarted his character arc. In fact, this song was fundamental in kickstarting the whole franchise.
