Every Bond Movie Theme Song Ranked Worst To Best
19. The Man With The Golden Gun By Lulu
This entry on the list makes one consider an interesting question- if a song succeeds in achieving its aims of being a campy piece of nonsense, is the song a success? For the sake of this list, I'm going with a yes. But considering some of the great songs the artist Lulu had been associated with, in particular the heart wrenching epic theme song for 'To Sir with Love', it was still hard not to feel a little disappointed.
The song aims to be pop nonsense and achieves this not so lofty goal. The song is also very befitting of the tone and feel of the film, setting an appropriate mood for the fun nonsense to come. Lulu at least sounds like she's having fun and the tune doesn't suffer from the downbeat monotony that others on this list fell into.
The forgettable nature of this song is in total contrast to the number produced by Alice Cooper for the film, that overall was a superior product. If its rockier and more haunting style would have been too unsuitable for the film is another question, but at least it would have been a bolder choice.
