Every Bond Movie Theme Song Ranked Worst To Best
18. Goldeneye By Tina Turner
The powerhouse collaboration of Tina Turner and U2 looked like a slam dunk for the revitalised and reinvigorated Bond franchise when they joined to compose the lead song for Goldeneye. But while Tina launches into the song with all the gusto and passion one would expect from the living legend, Bono and The Edge's number just lacks something. It's not a dreadful song, it's just quite pedestrian and feels like another Bond theme by numbers.
With the massive hype and positive reception of Pierce Brosnan's first venture as 007, the song's impact on the charts was mixed around the world, scraping into the top ten in the UK. One couldn't help but feel that Tina would have been better writing a more original title song as Madonna would do for the last Bond flick of the Brosnan era.
The one positive thing that can be said for the song is that it's significantly stronger than the Eric Senna composed 'The Experience of Love' that can be heard over the final credits and at important interludes throughout the film. Sting recants the lyrics as if singing a lullaby, with the song's elevator music style in total contrast with the film's brilliant action and tension building.
