5. Scandal Of Blood Animated Short
On the animation side of things, Star Wars has done pretty well for itself. Fans and critics met the final season of The Clone Wars with critical acclaim, and spinoffs like Rebels have succeeded filling in the blanks between Revenge of the Jedi and A New Hope.
So it’s interesting to think how fans would receive an animation alongside a theatrical release. Scandal of Blood was penned in 2012 as a companion piece to The Force Awakens. It follows Leia Organa dealing with the political consequences after it’s revealed she is Darth Vader’s daughter.
Described as a Star Wars version of Netflix’s House of Cards, the short would have briefly touched on the “scandalous” reveal as Leia tries to keep the Republic together, perhaps explaining how Leia became involved with the Resistance against the First Order.
Of course, it would have been challenging to set up and pay off a political thriller as a short, so maybe it was for the best that the animation evolved into an extended story in Claudia Gray’s Bloodline novel.
