Every Cancelled Star Wars Movie Ranked
6. Untitled Jabba The Hutt Film
The powerful crime lord of the original trilogy was seriously considered to lead a spinoff, with news that a film was in early development in 2017. Unfortunately, nothing has been heard since, meaning this is probably another victim to Disney’s cancellations after Solo.
At first glance, it seems like a very odd choice for a spinoff, with the Hutts’ main goal being simply to obtain as much money, influence, and power as possible. It’s when you realise Guillermo del Toro pitched his ideal Jabba the Hutt film back in 2015 that you may pay attention.
Known for his incredible creature designs and terrifying tales, a del Toro-led Hutt film could have been a real game-changer for Star Wars, going down a much darker route with a Godfather-style story.
Could Jabba carry an entire movie on his own? It's feasible. How about Jabba’s Palace as a brooding house of frightening del Toro criminal creations? Sounds epic.
