Every Christopher Nolan Movie Ranked Worst To Best
7. Inception (2010)
Ask anyone to name a "complicated film", chances are high they'll say Inception, one of the most twisty, violent and ambitious projects of Nolan's career mind-f**king his audiences.
The story of a group of thieves who steal information from people by entering their dreams, Inception is a thrilling spectacle that finds Leonardo DiCaprio in a race against time to save his family and salvage what's left of his soul, whilst the walls separating dreams and reality crumble around him.
Relentlessly fast-paced and gorgeously shot, Inception is Nolan at his most Nolan, tripping you up with red herrings and emotional bolts from the blue. Unfortunately, it's also the kind of film that, as admittedly entertaining as it is, loses some bite over time, thanks in large part to its overbearing exposition and heavy-handed dialogue.
The exposition is hard to ignore once you notice it -- it's basically two hours of characters explaining what's happening -- but it doesn't take away from Inception's innumerable highs. It packs a mean emotional punch, and its premise is too juicy not to grip you from the off.
