17. Watching The Detectives (2007)
It's hard to think of a time Cillian Murphy was as hysterically funny as he is in Watching the Detectives, an otherwise silly rom-com in which he stars as an immature film fan who falls for a mysterious stranger (Lucy Liu).
Full of elaborate, over-the-top pranks and colourful characters, Watching the Detectives finds Murphy having his go as the everyman, a romantic but emotionally juvenile guy who meets his match and must find himself to win her over... and, more importantly, understand her.
With lots of tears and plenty of twists, Murphy is on riotous form here, so much so it's a wonder he hasn't done more romantic-comedies over the years. He's honestly a natural.
