Every Cillian Murphy Movie Ranked Worst To Best

5. Breakfast On Pluto (2006)

Cillian Murphy Inception
Paramount Pictures

In a long career of transformative turns, Breakfast on Pluto remains Cillian Murphy's most unexpected venture, cast to portray a trans woman in 1970s London forced to contend with her family woes and identity.

Of course, this is a casting decision hasn't aged particularly well, but rest assured that Murphy (alongside director Neil Jordan) always treats Kitty with magnificent sympathy and understanding. Murphy vanishes into her shoes body and soul, exploring every aspect of her complex inner turmoil.

Not all of Breakfast on Pluto works - its story, split into short chapters, is tonally jarring at times - but at the centre of it all Murphy doesn't waver from the task at hand, and in the process delivers one of his most enthralling performances.
