Every Coen Brothers Movie Ranked Worst To Best

13. O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)

Inside Llewyn Davis
Universal

O Brother, Where Art Thou? remains one of the Coen Brothers most fun films. The tale follows three escaped convicts (George Clooney, Tim Blake Nelson and John Turturro) who, whilst on the run, come face to face with infamous bank robbers, the KKK, a prophet who gives them a vague tease about their fate, and a musician with whom they make a successful country record.

Outside of the three perfect leads, who all work wonders together thanks to the Brothers' seamless script, the cinematography is gorgeous, allowing the film's Mississippi setting to look as bright and wholesome as possible - despite the terrible people and situations the trio continually come across.

The main issue with the film is similar to the problem found with The Hudsucker Proxy or Intolarable Cruelty. Though far more accomplished than those two flicks, O Brother, Where Art Thou? is once more an example of the Coen Brothers having fun but not leaving audiences with much to think about outside of: "Well, that was cool."

Though this is by no means a bad thing, the rest of the films on this list are all better creations than this bonkers comedy simply because they have more to say.
