Every David Fincher Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

1. The Social Network

Fincher's best movie is also the one which clearly should've won Best Picture and Best Director Oscars, yet was pipped for both by the (admittedly stellar) crowd-pleaser The King's Speech.

But one suspects The Social Network's legacy will long outlive the frothy delights of Tom Hooper's period biopic, a film which distills an unthinkable amount of suspense, humour, and pathos out of the Facebook origin story.

An Oscar-nominated Jesse Eisenberg has never been better as the prickly genius Mark Zuckerberg, though the likes of Andrew Garfield, Armie Hammer, and Justin Timberlake aren't far behind, aided at all times by Aaron Sorkin's fundamentally perfect, Oscar-winning screenplay.

Easily one of the best-edited films of all time - for which it won cutters Angus Wall and Kirk Baxter an Oscar each - The Social Network is far more of a technical triumph than you'd ever expect from the material, while Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' Oscar-winning score also ensures it's far more thrilling than you'd ever anticipate.

Debates will be had about its historical veracity until the end of time, but as a pure entertainment it feels as relevant and urgent now as it did back in 2010.

Given that Facebook seems primed to outlive each and every one of us, so too will Fincher's crowning achievement.
