Every DCEU Film Ranked From Worst To Best

9. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

Wonder Woman 2017
Warner Bros.

It always seemed very likely that this would be a dud and those pre-release predictions were right. This has been a real punching bag over the years for both fans and critics, but what does the film do right?

Well, the performances from Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot, as well as (most) of the rest of the cast, are right on-point. Affleck's Batman positively annihilates every other live-action version of the character and Zack Snyder is, as ever, a very strong visual stylist. It's a well-made and occasionally interesting blockbuster, so what's the problem? Pretty much everything else.

The script is mostly terrible, Jesse Eisengerg's Lex Luthor is embarrassingly awful and the whole thing makes for a generally soulless collection of fight scenes that are so full of plot holes it's nigh-on impossible to take seriously.

It's not irredeemable and thanks to Zack Snyder's direction and the generally good acting, it's better than Suicide Squad or WW84. Still, it remains a disappointing film whatever way you cut it.
