3. Wonder Woman - $822.8 Million
One of the biggest problems with the DCEU, and in particular the theatrical release of Justice League, was that the studio tried to rush things into a big crossover without taking the time to develop their characters properly. Aquaman, Cyborg, and the Flash all suffered for not having their own solo movies before joining the Justice League, but the same can’t be said of Wonder Woman.
Gal Gadot’s character made her first appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and absolutely stole the entire show. When her own solo movie was released a year later, there was a buzz like never before.
The superhero genre has grown exponentially over the last two decades, in particular since Iron Man released in 2008, yet until Wonder Woman in 2017, there hadn’t been a female-led movie in the genre. Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot were on the first wave of changing the game and, rightly so, audiences flocked to the cinema.
The success of this movie may have subsequently affected the expectations and success of its sequel, but Wonder Woman still deservedly claims a place towards the top of this list.
