Every Guy Ritchie Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
10. Revolver
Rather than follow up Swept Away with a back-to-basics gangster flick, Ritchie opted to not only take his unique brand of crime thriller to the U.S., but turn it upside down with a detour into half-baked philosophy.
Widely accepted to be inspired by Ritchie's dabblings in Kabbalah - again, we can thank Madonna - Revolver is a virtually incomprehensible film about a con-man (Jason Statham) who believes he possesses the formula to pull off the perfect con.
In fairness, Statham makes for an engaging lead and tries his level best to make sense of Ritchie's impossibly pretentious dialogue, but this is most certainly a case of Ritchie getting high off his own supply and making the audience suffer for it.
Is it quite as terrible as its 15% Tomatometer might suggest? Not really, but it's still an undeniable failure of intent, and despite its occasionally interesting ideas, is ultimately more irritating than intriguing.
