Every Guy Ritchie Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
9. Aladdin
It's tough to imagine why Disney hired a director of Ritchie's singularity to helm a totally generic and soulless live-action remake of Aladdin - with a PG rating, no less - when they could've just hired any regular hack-for-hire to do it for far less money.
In the very least, Aladdin isn't as bad as the trailers made it seem: despite all the pre-release hand-wringing over Will Smith's performance, he's easily the best thing in it. Naomi Scott also makes for a solid Jasmine, though for the most part this is a generic and uninspired retelling of the beloved animation.
The visual effects are horrendous, it's almost 40 minutes longer than the original with no justification, the new Jafar (Marwan Kenzari) is a charisma vacuum, and even Ritchie's direction feels choppy and inconsistent.
Smith and Scott keep it watchable for the most part, but this is certainly the blandest film in the director's entire filmography.
