Every Guy Ritchie Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

6. The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

On paper, Ritchie was definitely a smart choice to mount a retooling of the classic 1960s spy TV series The Man from U.N.C.L.E., yet like far too many of the director's films, the result is a handsome and intriguing yet ultimately just "OK" outing.

First off, Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer are really great here, and the film certainly looks nice, yet Ritchie's script can't escape the genre trappings of spy flick formula, and lacks the prevailing self-awareness to fully distinguish itself.

The likes of Hugh Grant and Jared Harris are totally wasted in supporting roles, and overall it basically confirms every "style-over-substance" complaint ever levelled against Ritchie. It's totally fine, but could've been so much better.

The scene with the sandwich is hilarious, though.
