Every Halloween Movie Ranked Worst To Best After Halloween Kills

11. Halloween Ends (2022)

Halloween Kills
Universal

The final chapter in David Gordon Green's rebooted trilogy, Halloween Ends at least seems to actually bring the saga of Michael Myers to a concrete conclusion, but it does it with such carelessness it's hard to feel too strongly about its finality.

Introducing some new characters at the last minute mark takes up a lot of the threequel's runtime and leaves Laurie Strode stranded in her own story, a fact which is all the harder to ignore when you consider Michael Myers himself is missing from the drama for almost an hour.

It's not all bad: Curtis is on fine form, as always, tapping it Laurie's grief with great emotion, and the opening titles are truly astonishing, but between its bloated plot and ill-advised psychic twists, the whole thing simply reeks of redundancy.

Green wanted to right the wrongs of the franchise, but he's just leaned into them. It sucks to see, considering its strong start, but Halloween Ends is a tame finale for a trilogy that was supposed to be so much more.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
