Every Halloween Movie Ranked Worst To Best After Halloween Kills
9. Halloween 5: The Revenge Of Michael Myers (1989)
Released just a year after Halloween 4, The Revenge of Michael Myers picks things up with an effective opening sequence and shock death that (unlike Laurie Strode in Resurrection) actually feels earned and necessary.
But, as ever, it quickly loses itself to horrifically bland characters and unchallenging jump scares, which whilst not all bad are certainly undone by the film's ill-placed attempts at comedy and the fact that Michael Myers just...isn't that scary anymore?
Maybe five films is too many for one character to remain as fresh and scary as he was in his debut -- especially when said character doesn't talk or show his true face -- and The Revenge of Michael Myers is living proof of that.
Donald Pleasance and a young, revelatory Danielle Harris bring compelling drama to the senselessness of it all, but then again even they can't save the day.
