Every Harry Potter Villain Ranked From Worst To Best

1. Lord Voldemort

Yes, it's predictable, but this really couldn't go to anyone else.

One of the greatest villains in cinema history; Voldemort is the best version of the "absolute evil" villain that can be found in fantasy cinema.

He's an ominous and monstrous presence in the first few films. He's so desperate to come back and hurt as many people as possible. The films make the audience fear the idea of just how terrifying he will be when he finally arrives, fully formed.

When he does, it's something special. Ralph Fiennes throws his entire self into this role with total menace and glee. There are so many moments that stand out. His immediate hatred for Harry as soon as he's resurrected, that horrifying face he makes when he creates the fire dragon, the snake-like movement when he takes the Elder wand, and the ridiculous scream when he destroys the shield around Hogwarts. He's effortlessly entertaining and is the best part of any scene he's in.

His rivalry with Harry is well developed, and his death was mostly satisfying. Seeing him turn into mouldy cornflakes was admittedly bizarre, but it showed that there wasn't any good in him anymore; his splitting of his soul turned his body into a living husk.

Many fantasy films have an outright evil character who wants world domination and nothing less, but none of them have one who enjoys being evil as much as Lord Voldemort.
