Every James Bond Girl Ranked From Worst To Best
5. Melina Havelock - For Your Eyes Only
Melina Havelock (Carole Bouquet) is, without question, the greatest Bond Girl of the Roger Moore era.
A young woman seeking revenge for the murder of her parents by the film's main villain, Melina is an extremely well-rounded character. She's a hard, steely bad-ass with real action chops but better still, there's a wonderful sense of pathos to the character as she deals with her bereavement. Some of her dialogue scenes with Bond (who tries to talk her out of her revenge plans) are unexpectedly moving as well.
Speaking of which, she and Bond have a genuine and uplifting relationship throughout the film which is so effective it's easy to forget the huge age difference between the actors. They eventually shag, but this feels entirely earned and rather sweet, in all honesty.
The only two downsides are firstly, she doesn't look at all bothered when someone else kills the man responsible for killing her parents instead of her and secondly, she's involved in a particularly bad ending gag involving a cameo from Margaret Thatcher (played by Janet Brown). But otherwise? Bravo.
