Every James Bond Main Villain Ranked Worst To Best
6. Ernest Stavro Blofeld - You Only Live Twice
As Voldermort and Thanos prove, movie franchises aren't afraid to tease the story's arch-nemesis for years. This is common practice with multi-film series nowadays but was unheard of in the 1960s. Even though SPECTRE's Supreme Commander, Ernest Stavro Blofeld, was heard in 1962's From Russian with Love, the master terrorist was unseen. After being teased for four years, the scarred dictator finally debuted in 1967's You Only Live Twice. He was hyped to an unrealistic level and his appearance was brief but Donald Pleasance absolutely killed it as Blofeld.
Parodied to death over the years, it's easy to forget that Pleasance's portrayal isn't as goofy as you'd remember. Despite being based in a hallowed-out volcano lair stroking his cat, Blofeld doesn't come across as satyrical since Pleasance delivers every line with absolute sincerity. Portraying the evil leader with a mix of theatricality and menacing calmness, you can't help hanging onto his every word.
His appearance is brief but there is no question that Blofeld makes an unforgettable impression.
