Every James Bond Movie Pre-Credits Scene Ranked Worst To Best

18. Licence To Kill - Felix Leiter And Bond Capture Franz Sanchez On The Way To Leiter's Wedding

James Bond Goldeneye Opening
MGM

Licence to Kill is the darkest film in Bond history, but this opening is actually really silly and clashes jarringly with the rest of the film.

It's well-filmed and mildly thrilling, but it clashes so badly with the rest of the film that it's hard to get into and even when one ignores the tonal issues, it's still an OK opening at most and it doesn't do much to linger in the memory. Bond and Felix (David Hedison) parachuting down to the wedding was a nice touch though.

The pre-titles does have a good moment where Franz Sanchez (Robert Davi), the film's ferocious lead villain, is introduced killing a man his girlfriend (Talisa Soto) was sleeping with and this worked well, so it'd have been better had the rest of the pre-titles been more in this vein.
