Every James Bond Movie Ranked Worst To Best
2. Goldfinger (1964)
Dr. No started it, From Russia with Love improved upon it, but Goldfinger turned the Bond franchise is a worldwide phenomenon, and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say it's still one of the greatest spy thrillers ever made.
The series' most iconic instalment, Goldfinger finds Bond clashing with a evil gold magnate, and features much of what makes the franchise tick for the first time, from the brash humour, overtly sexual Bond girl names (in this case, it's Honor Blackman's Pussy Galore), and gadget use.
The brilliance of Goldfinger doesn't just come down to its influence, though. There's also the shock reveal of Shirley Eaton plastered in gold, the imposing, hat-throwing henchman Oddjob, and, of course, the immortal "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!" line.
Goldfinger is both Bond and Connery's most entertaining, iconic instalment, capturing everything that makes the franchise great into a film that even manages to overcome its most controversial moments (the barn scene is surely the franchise's most unsettling development) at its best.
