Every James Bond Villain Ranked Worst To Best

9. Blofeld (Telly Savalas) - On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Renard James Bond
United Artists

Taking the nostalgia out of the equation, Blofeld isn't actually that great. He lacks the interesting story of many Bond Villains and he's just an evil genius who does one hammy scheme after another.

Therefore, it's always fallen to the actors to carry the character; luckily, aside from Charles Gray's appallingly bad version of the character in Diamonds are Forever, Blofeld has always been well-played and Telly Savalas' version of the character was genuinely really good.

His plan - to spread a virus using some hypnotized women (most of whom are really, really annoying) - is as preposterous as ever, but Blofeld himself is a cold and nasty albeit delightful to watch super-villain who's both scary and very entertaining - much like many of the best Bond villains.

As well as this, Telly Savalas did a very good job as him and this version is arguably better than You Only Live Twice's, since that incarnation barely appeared and the cheek scar was a bit silly.

All in all, this is the best version of Blofeld to date and an awesome main villain for this excellent Bond film.
