Every James Cameron Film Ranked Worst To Best
1. Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
Ranking this above Aliens was not a decision taken lightly.
Films are good, films are great, and then sometimes, films are just pure magic. T2 rests with no shadow of a doubt in the latter category. Cameron took his 1984 original, gave his main star baddie a face-turn, and created a sequel so tight and stylish, that cinema nearly thirty years on, still struggles to top it.
Consider the boundless action, the ultra-cool blue and white colour coding, the revolutionary special effects, and the stellar performances by the cast. All of the above is pulled off with a distinct sense of character unique to this movie. Terminator 2 continues to best its rivals because of the passion, and the little touches.
To make a film about two robots, devoid of emotion, kicking the s**t out of each other, and to retain a notable level of personality in those characters, is a once in a lifetime event. That's what T2's numerous peers and sequels have failed to grasp. As a sequel or as a standalone movie, it exudes perfection from start to finish.
