Every Jared Leto Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
14. How To Make An American Quilt (1995)
Leto's first feature film role was in the horribly-titled How to Make an American Quilt, which stars Winona Ryder as Finn Dodd, a woman who visits her grandmother's quilting group to mull over a recent marriage proposal and hear their own life stories.
Script-wise this thing is all over the map but it more often than not works as a heartfelt melodrama about the complexities of maintaining romantic relationships.
The cast is insanely stacked - also including Anne Bancroft, Ellen Burstyn, Lois Smith, Samantha Mathis, Jean Simmons, Alfre Woodard, Maya Angelou, Kate Capshaw, Dermot Mulroney, Rip Torn, and Richard Jenkins - enough to paper over its somewhat deflating narrative trajectory.
Leto has only a small role as one of the several unsavoury men depicted throughout, but does fine enough work with what material he has.
