Every Jon Favreau Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

6. Made (2001)

Made on a comparative shoe-string budget as a spiritual follow-up to the excellent Swingers, and starring Favreau alongside Vince Vaughn, Made offers early insight into Favreau€™s later tropes.

It might not be quite as good as its €œpredecessor€, but Made introduces Favreau€™s fascination with slightly broken character dynamics, irrepressibly charismatic dolts and surprisingly under-stated pay-offs. (As a side note, his character Bobby€™s terrible boxing career and lack of self-awareness would later be revived for his Friends role).

Made is about subtle story-telling and unspectacular but rewarding comedy: Vaughn is thoroughly disdainful but irresistibly, disarmingly charming and it€™s a film that revels in the telling more than the actual tale. In some respects this is Favreau€™s Good Will Hunting, personal, idiosyncratic and a launch-pad to bigger, better things.
