Every Leonardo DiCaprio Movie Ranked Worst To Best
15. This Boy's Life (1993)
DiCaprio burst onto the scene in 1993 with two performances that, when watched together, form a perfect image of the kind of brave, ferocious actor he would become in several short years.
In This Boy's Life, he landed his first lead role as Tobias, a young boy abused and berated by his stepfather whilst he tries to survive the rigours of school. In the role, he was forced to hold his own against a volatile Robert De Niro, and stole the show from under him with a wrenchingly innocent portrayal of growing up in a toxic home.
This Boy's Life suffers through some simple drama, but the work of DiCaprio is an early masterclass worth staying for. De Niro was reportedly so impressed with the young actor that he talked him up to future muse Martin Scorsese during production.
