Every Leonardo DiCaprio Movie Ranked Worst To Best

22. Body Of Lies (2008)

Leonardo DiCaprio Shutter Island
Warner Bros. Pictures

After a slew of heavy dramas, DiCaprio decided to join forces with Ridley Scott for the generic political thriller Body of Lies, which is competently made and gritty enough, but is also the kind of uneventful studio film he's painfully overqualified for.

The story of a star CIA operative on a desperate mission to capture a terrorist in Iraq, Body of Lies is fast-paced and tries to say something vital about US-Middle East relations, but its action and heavy-handed politics do it little favours, especially as it barrels toward its inevitable and overburdened finale.

DiCaprio brings determination and even a little heartache to the role of a man caught in a war he wants nothing to do with, but he can only do so much for the film as a whole, which is just passably entertaining and nothing more.
