Every Liam Neeson Action Movie Ranked Worst To Best
1. The Grey (2012)
The Grey perfectly blends Liam Neeson's two sides as an actor. Not only does it force him to give a powerful performance as a suicidal man with no hope, but it also finds him at his action hero best, leading a group of Alaskan oil drillers through the wilderness after their plane crashes and they're set upon by bloodthirsty wolves.
Sombre and haunting, the drama is bleak in its depiction of men who've lost their way, and in their final moments slowly come to terms with their fate and failings. It's also a masterpiece of tension, as it becomes increasingly clear that not one of the men is going to survive, despite Neeson's best efforts to save the day.
Neeson finds perfect use of his subtle vulnerabilities and steely-eyed perseverance in Joe Carnahan's stark reflection of the human spirit, and comes out the other side with a performance that ranks as one of his very best. The Grey is tragic and heartbreaking, but Neeson's deeply personal performance makes it almost flawless.
