Every Liam Neeson Action Movie Ranked Worst To Best

The biggest flaws of The Ice Road are obvious from the first scene, what with its awfully cheap CGI and dismal, borderline offensive portrayal of Neeson's on-screen brother, who has aphasia but not in any way that resembles real life. The latter of these issues is unforgiveable, but Neeson is on hand to save the film from total failure.

As disgruntled trucker Mike McCann, who's sent to save miners from a devastating cave-in, Neeson injects the drama with a performance that's at once tragic and desperate, and finds the actor slightly against type as a man out of his element and pushed to the breaking point.

Some of the tension and survivalist themes break through the film's heavy-handed and gaudy execution, especially as McCann moves closer to his goal. Even with a passionate Neeson at the wheel, though, this might be one of his biggest missed opportunities. It isn't totally bad, but it could have been so much more.
