Every Liam Neeson Action Movie Ranked Worst To Best
9. Unknown (2011)
One of his first big post-Taken projects, Unknown casts Neeson as a professor who's lost his identity and must unravel the secrets of his life before his enemies close in. It finds the actor at his most confused and caged-in, giving him more uncertainty than he's tackled in an action flick before or since.
Though the lesser of his collaborations with director Juame Collet-Serra, Unknown makes a startling paranoid thriller in which Neeson adds heaps of emotion, selling the mystery and energy of the film's messy but thrilling script. It gets ahead of itself at times, and gives itself too much to juggle, but it never loosens its grip.
Within the movie's twists and turns, its strongest tool is ultimately Neeson, who tends to play men in total control but here is completely out of his depth. It's a great change of pace, even if Unknown is one in a long line of 21st century thrillers that doesn't know how to tie all its loose ends together.
