Every M. Night Shyamalan Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

9. Glass

Unbreakable Bruce Willis
Universal

Glass is certainly far from Shyamalan's worst film, but it is absolutely his most disappointing.

Hyped up as the thrilling conclusion to the director's low-key superhero trilogy - following Unbreakable and Split - Glass ended up delivering a hugely unsatisfying finale to this most unconventional franchise.

It's clear that Shyamalan wanted to subvert expectations with a deconstruction of the modern superhero movie, but he evidently didn't have much interesting to substitute the genre's tropes with.

As a result Glass feels strangely cheap and low-effort - shot in just a few minimal locations with mediocre action sequences, it's only thanks to the fine efforts of James McAvoy and Samuel L. Jackson that the film remains relatively watchable.

Worst of all is the film's absolute trainwreck of an ending, which throws away all of the audience's remaining goodwill in an attempt to shock them.

While it's admirable that Shyamalan delivered a finale which pretty much guaranteed this would be the end of the series, it wasn't one that left fans in any way gratified. What a letdown.
