Every M. Night Shyamalan Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

9. Lady In The Water (2006)

Well, it sure doesn't suck as much as the three aforementioned films, but it is probably Shyamalan's most forgettable mainstream release, all the more troubling given how weird it was.

The absolute worst thing about The Lady in the Water is that Shyamalan has a significant role in it as a writer with world-changing ideas, and it just comes off as horrendously self-serving, as though ego got in the way of any intent to make a good film.

The rest of the performances are fine, but the plot is an awkward, scarcely comprehensible fantasy hodge-podge that feels outrageously overlong at 109 minutes, and also ended his four-movie winning streak at the box office.
