Every M. Night Shyamalan Movie Ranked Worst To Best
12. Praying With Anger (1992)
You can find M. Night Shyamalan's unseen debut lingering on YouTube, oceans removed from the director's later work and biggest hits.
The deeply personal tale follows an Indian-American student (Shyamalan, rarely stepping in front of the camera as well as behind it) who moves to India for school and learns he has a home away from home. It's sentimental and paints a moving portrait of the young director, though its clunky execution and melodrama stifle it.
Praying with Anger is a great film to watch to understand Shyamalan's origins and favourite themes (hope, togetherness, family), but little more.
