Every Main Fast & Furious Villain Ranked From Worst To Best

The inaugural villain of the franchise is quite underrated amongst the fans of the Fast & Furious franchise. While the first movie is rightfully centred on the conflict between Brian O'Conner's responsibilities as a police officer and his relationships with Mia and Dominic Toretto, the antagonistic street racer Johnny Tran is a worthwhile and excellent addition to the film.

Tran is cocky and ill-tempered. He has moments of composure where he seems like a collected leader of his motorcycle gang, but Tran's most interesting moments as a character come when he's vulnerable and overcome by rage. Similarly to most of the best Fast & Furious villains, Tran is so dangerous and compelling because he is deeply insecure and uses driving as a vessel to unleash all his hatred onto the world.

His impulsive bursts of anger lead to some of the best moments in the first installment and his final moments before his death are excellent. While he's simply a cog in the machine to further the separation between Dom and Brian, Rick Yune's performance is incredibly solid and Tran's presence improves the overall tension phenomenally.
