Every Main James Bond Villain Ranked Worst To Best

24. Aristotle Kristatos (For Your Eyes Only, 1981)

Aris Kristatos clocks in at the bottom here for sheer lack of intrigue or indeed, any interesting villainous moments at all: one of the more dastardly acts he commits onscreen is slapping Bibi, which isn't entirely unjustified.

Kristatos is also one of the worst offenders for creating convoluted methods of executing Bond when a simple gunshot would have sufficed: tying Bond and mandatory heroine Melina Havelock together and using them as shark bait while driving around on his speedboat.

When Bond inevitably escapes, Kristatos scans the water for about two seconds before lazily concluding that his plan probably worked and that he and his crew must get of dodge pronto. Poor show, Arry. Finally, Kristatos is one of those rare villains that doesn’t even receive the honour of being killed by Bond, instead receiving a knife in the back from Topol’s Columbo, who is a far better character all round.

Best Moment: Warning Bond about the possible extreme action he’d have to take regarding Columbo. “You may have to KILL him… does this discourage you?” This at the very least raises a wry smile from the audience - imagine Her Majesty’s finest killer having to kill!

Worst Moment: “I will deal with you, Jacoba Brink, as I deal with everyone who betrays me.” A limp threat to a minor character delivered with low intensity and greeted with yawns by the audience in what is meant to be the film’s exciting climax.

Chest thumping James Bond and Haruki Murakami fanatic living in China. Once had a fever dream about riding a rowboat with Davos Seaworth. He hasn't updated this section since Game of Thrones was cool, and boy does it show.
