16. Vision - "What Is Grief?"

First as JARVIS, then as Vision, Paul Bettany has been in the Marvel Cinematic Universe from the very beginning. He became the first MCU actor to feature in all four Phases with WandaVision, and his character has grown with every appearance.

Despite how immeasurably powerful Vision is, fuelled by an Infinity Stone with the ability to wield Mjolnir, his greatest moments in the franchise often came when using his words, rather than his strength on any battlefield.

He has been the source of some wonderfully poignant nuggets of wisdom over the years, but none so special as when talking to Wanda after the death of her brother. The relationship between the two Avengers was only just budding, but Vision with his growing humanity, knew exactly what to say.

“What is grief, if not love persisting?” An incredibly beautiful perception of something so painful that helped Wanda process one of the most difficult times in her already traumatic life. He even lived and embodied this himself in another universe as Wanda was transformed into a zombie, as his grief drove him to the madness of feeding her scraps of T'Challa to survive.
