Every Major MCU Movie Twist Ranked Worst To Best

2. Spider-Man, Homecoming - Vulture Is Liz's Father

The reveal by Adrian Tomes, AKA Vulture, was the most down to earth, and arguably the smartest twist the MCU has ever come up with. Homecoming's interpretation of the classic Spidey villain was a fresh and grounded alternative to the fantastical nasties of other Spider-Man films, and Michael Keaton's performance in this role was nothing short of exemplary. A disgruntled worker finding alternate means to make ends meet hadn't really been touched on before, and so it gave the movie a great edge.

The ongoing clash between Tomes and Peter Parker ran a fairly linear course until the moment Parker rocked up to the front door of his high school date, Liz, who turned out to be the daughter of Tomes himself. It was a real scratched-record moment. Audiences were locked in with the anxious Peter Parker as he struggled to keep poker face, giving way to a tense exchange of knowledge between protagonist and antagonist.

Whether fans saw it coming or not was partly irrelevant, as the resulting drama made it a pivotal and compelling moment, and instantly rendered this teen caper one of the brainiest films of the series.
