17. Laufey - Thor

Plan: To kill Odin and take over Asgard.

Status: Betrayed and deceased.

People tend to forget that Laufey even exists in Thor's first movie, thanks to Loki's debut happening alongside it, but he is a key part to the mythology of Loki's evil and a key story element in the still under-appreciated film.

Played by Colm Feore, he is everything Malekith should have been, even though he looks pretty silly compared to the majority of his fellow MCU villains. He's monstrous, driven by hatred and awful to the end, mocking his abandoned son Loki in such a way that his death at his hand is almost enough to inspire wild air punches.

He might not have been around for long, but he was impactful in exactly the right way, and he was easy to hate, which is pretty much your first requirement of a villain.
