Every Marvel Comic Book Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

You can probably forgive Ang Lee for thinking that he should be making something different to the other comic book movies he'd already seen made: after all, he's Ang Lee and you don't hire him to just make a paint-by-numbers adaptation.

He went for a smarter, more thought-provoking take on the iconic character, which might have been the right fit for almost any Marvel character other than the one defined by his muscles. The pacing is positively volcanic and the action just isn't there to add some substance to the occasionally beautiful aesthetic.

Eric Bana is low-key and understated as Bruce Banner, and there's a more tentative approach to characterisation, but it's just so weirdly off-tone that the endeavour to do something new is lost in an identity crisis.
