Scene: Tony Stark arrives home, to see a man in his living room.

"'I am Iron Man'" the man says, revealing one of cinema's most recognisable voices. "You think you're the only superhero in the world? You've become part of a bigger universe, you just don't know it yet."

"Who the hell are you?" Tony demands. Then, the man steps into the light - it's Samuel L. Jackson.

"I'm Nicky Fury, director of SHIELD. And I'm here to talk to you about the Avengers Initiative."

Admit it: you got chills just thinking of that, didn't you?

Of course, it caused a huge stir at the time since an on-screen team-up of the Avengers had previously only been a comic-book lover's wishful fantasy and this scene came out of nowhere to deliver a shocking bit of sequel set-up, but removed from the context of the time it's still a brilliant credits scene in its own right.

It's simple yet devastatingly effective, it doesn't feel forced, it leaves us wanting more and also, it's got Samuel L Jackson. He improves pretty much anything he's in.
