Every MCU Director Ranked Worst To Best
3. Ryan Coogler
Directed:
Black Panther (2018).
Ryan Coogler, with Fruitvale Station, Creed and now Black Panther under his belt, is really on a roll. Black Panther is now, with good reason, one of the most successful and well-loved MCU films and Coogler's accomplished work is a huge part of why the film works so well.
Unlike other directors such as Josh Trank, Coogler did not mess up the transition from low-budget to big-budget in the slightest and, despite all the bad CGI, it's easily one of the best MCU films on a visual level. It's full of artistic and stunning cinematography, with Killmonger's death before the sunset being one of the best MCU shots to date, but Coogler never forgot he was directing a blockbuster and truly brought out a sense of visceral intensity and kinetic energy to the film's set pieces.
When the inevitable Black Panther 2 comes around, it'd be madness not to bring Coogler back since he did such a good job and proved he could direct an exciting blockbuster while also making it a satisfying artistic piece. His muse, Michael B. Jordan, was the film's MVP as well.
