Every MCU Director Ranked Worst To Best

1. Anthony And Joe Russo

Thor Ragnarok Taika Waititi
Marvel Studios

Directed:

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Captain America: Civil War (2016) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018).

Who could've known that two guys best-known for directing sitcom episodes would turn out to be the golden boys of the MCU?

Sure, these two have directed the three best MCU films so that helps, but all three of the films owe a lot to the Russo Brothers.

They are genuinely great at filming spectacle. As shown in set pieces such as the incredible finales of The Winter Soldier and Civil War, the duo's tight editing, visceral cinematography and genuine sense of awe and scale make such sequences incredibly thrilling, but the thing which makes these two so skilled is that they never go overboard. There's no overly distracting style and their direction has always been smooth and grounded. Their ability to create brilliant comic book movie action while also making the spectacle feel real is the main reason Marvel should never let these two go.

The three MCU films the Russo Brothers have directed are genuinely great cinematically, even outside of the set-pieces, making them the MCU's best directors the MCU to date. The untitled Avengers 4 is in good hands.
