Every MCU Movie Ranked By Death Count

9. Thor - 212

Guardians Of The Galaxy 2
Marvel Studios

After three relatively grounded movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor took fans off planet to Asgard, and with it came the need for a fair amount of exposition. Odin narrated over images of the Great War in which he lost his eye, setting up the rivalry between Asgard and Jotunheim.

Of course, with a battle of this magnitude there were many, many deaths. Eight villagers were frozen by the Frost Giants on screen before Asgard even entered the fight, followed by 25 more deaths when the two armies came together. The war was reignited when two Asgardian guards and three Frost Giants were killed when the latter tried to steal the Casket of Ancient Winters in the present day.

When Thor and his companions went to Jotunheim there could have easily been no deaths, as Thor was prepared to walk away until he was called Princess. The resulting fight saw the death of over 150 Jotuns, and their giant, hideous pet monster, all within the first half an hour of the movie.

Toward the end of the movie, though the Destroyer levelled a small town, there were only two casualties, both SHIELD agents. Heimdall escaped his icy constraints and killed his two guards on Asgard, while Loki deceived Laufey, luring him and one other into Odin's chambers only for he and his mother to kill them both.

Had the God of Mischief ultimately succeeded in his plan to destroy Jotunheim, the kill count would have been much higher, but Thor destroyed the Bifrost after only ten were killed.
