Released between Age of Ultron and Civil War, Ant-Man is a breath of fresh air, taking a much needed backseat and allowing the franchise to have some low stakes fun in-between all the melodrama.

A fun little heist movie with ample comedy courtesy of Paul Rudd, Michael Peña, and a brilliantly deadpan Michael Douglas, the straightforward origin story benefits from its self-aware silliness and digestible, inoffensive thrills.

There are some problems, including Corey Stoll's painfully generic villain and its poor dysfunctional family subplot(s), but Ant-Man, disposable as it may be, knows exactly what it is, and is all the better for it.
