19. Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015)

Shang Chi
Marvel Studios

Of the many major MCU events, Age of Ultron is easily the busiest and least refined, attempting to juggle far too many subplots, characters and threats without much understanding of where it's all leading.

In less than two-and-a-half hours, audiences are introduced to Ultron, Vision, Hawkeye's secret family, Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch, confronted with an epic Iron Man/Hulk battle, and forced to sit through a subplot involving Thor which leads to nothing.

It's not all bad, though. Tony Stark in particular gets some brilliant development, his relationship with the rest of the team foreshadowing a major internal struggle; James Spader is adequately intimidating as Ultron, and the final battle is seriously good fun. It's just a shame director Joss Whedon tired so hard to include so much.
