22. Doctor Strange (2016)
The most spectacular thing about Doctor Strange is its visual extravagance. Constantly dazzling, bursting with colour and expert world-building, the fantasy superhero flick remains one of the more underrated and innovative additions to the MCU.
The problem, then, lies not with the visual appeal or striking mythology, but in the slightly safe story, which watches a lot like the original Iron Man - arrogant rich guy realises the error of his ways after a near-death experience - only with magic and Benedict Cumberbatch.
Cumberbatch is great in the title role, and the final "I've come to bargain" sequence is nothing short of a masterstroke, but you can't help watching Doctor Strange without thinking it plays things a touch safe with its narrative.
