Every MCU Romance Ranked From Worst To Best
10. Peter Parker & Liz Toomes
It's safe to say that Spider-Man: Homecoming had a lot going on.
Not only was it supposed to delve deeper into Peter Parker's backstory (that was briefly teased in Captain America: Civil War), it marked the first time that Marvel's beloved web-slinger headlined a film within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and, as a result, it needed a strong well-developed villain. Unfortunately, given that it had all of that to deal with, there just wasn't much time for romance.
Though Peter was head-over-heels in love with Liz Toomes, the relationship was doomed to fail from that start, given that the latter's father was the Vulture. While you would think that this would have allowed her to play more of a role in the story, she unfortunately did not and thus, the thing between them never really amounted to anything - which ultimately made their ill-fated story more of a "what could have been" than anything else.
That said, Tom Holland and Laura Harrier had visible chemistry and the young love certainly gave the film a beneficial John Hughes vibe, setting it apart from other MCU installments.
What could have been indeed...
