Every MCU Romance Ranked From Worst To Best
9. Bruce Banner & Natasha Romanoff
Natasha Romanoff's confession of love in Avengers: Age Of Ultron may have caught Bruce Banner off-guard, but he wasn't the only one shocked by how intense her feelings were. While both Ultron and the previous Avengers film certainly hinted at something more than friendship between the two of them, it was often hard to decipher what was actually going on and, given that Black Widow is quite a reserved character, this was unexpected, to say the least.
There was definitely something cute about seeing this trained assassin and socially-awkward scientist tripping over their words as they stared at each other all googly-eyed, which suggested that these two could be great together, but unfortunately there was very little development of the pair's mutual attraction before or after this to ever give it the romantic stakes it needed.
Natasha and Bruce certainly had a complex relationship and, yes, there was chemistry there. However, the former also had great chemistry with Steve Rogers and Clint Barton, and little was done to justify her sudden infatuation with the Incredible Hulk during Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
