Every MCU Villain Plot Ranked From Worst To Best
9. Obliterating The Skrulls - The Kree (Captain Marvel)
Phase three of the MCU saw a notable shift in the quality of antagonists, and while Yon-Rogg himself may have been somewhat forgettable, the whole plot surrounding who was on the right side of good and evil was fantastic.
From the very beginning, as they have always been, the Skrulls were played as the villains of the movie. The shapeshifting aliens can take the form of anyone they see, of course they're evil, right? Then when Carol was captured by Talos and had her memories searched, there was no question they were the bad guys.
However, the misdirection from the movie was masterful, before the reveal that the Skrulls weren't the bad guys at all, Captain Marvel and the rest of the Kree were. It echoed Tony Stark realising he was part of the problem in Iron Man, only Carol herself had been manipulated by her mentor into believing she was something completely different, and doing something right.
The twist was genuinely surprising, and made for an interesting final act in the movie. The only real down side to this villain plot was Ronan the Accuser. Since Marvel Studios brought back Lee Pace for Captain Marvel, it would have nice to see something better from the character than last time, but instead the Kree terrorist was yet again wasted.
